A violent conflict between farmers and herders in Guda Village, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Nigeria, has resulted in one death and multiple injuries. The incident occurred on September 23, 2026, at about 7:40 pm. According to eyewitnesses, the trouble started when locals discovered that a herder's animals were grazing on their farms and decided to chase the cattle to their owners' settlement.

The situation escalated into a heated argument and eventually a skirmish when villagers rushed to the herders' settlement. In the process, three farmers sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, one of them, identified as 40-year-old Usman Jibrin, later died while receiving treatment at General Hospital Ningi.

The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that four suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. The Spokesperson of the Command, SP Nafiu Habib, disclosed that the suspects were arrested on October 8, 2026. They are facing charges of criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt, mischief by fire, and culpable homicide.

According to SP Nafiu Habib, the incident was a result of a dispute over cattle grazing on farms. The police operatives from the Ningi Division responded promptly to the situation, restored normalcy, and evacuated the injured to the hospital. However, the retaliatory actions of some youths from Guda Village, who set ablaze houses at the herders' settlement, worsened the situation.
