The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has set up a 228-member Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate the party's mobilisation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was named chairman of the council, while Deputy Governor Dr Olayide Adelami will serve as Vice Chairman I. The council's constitution aims to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and support for Tinubu and other party candidates.

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, were named among the vice chairmen of the council. The ex-Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Adekanye Olabimtan, was appointed Director-General, while Dr Sylvester Olumuyiwa Adu will serve as Deputy Director-General. Other prominent leaders, including ex-Governor Dr Olusegun Mimiko, have been listed as members of the council.

The council comprises various stakeholders, including the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji; APC State Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde; ex- and serving senators and members of the House of Representatives; members of the Governor's Advisory Council; ex-lawmakers; commissioners; women and youth leaders; as well as grassroots mobilisers. The APC stated that the council brings together political leaders, stakeholders, women and youth leaders, support groups, and grassroots mobilisers from across the state.

According to the party, the council's composition is expected to strengthen coordination among APC stakeholders and supporters across the 18 local government areas of the state ahead of the 2027 elections. The council members share a commitment to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda and securing victory for Tinubu and other APC candidates. The APC stated that the council's primary goal is to coordinate and strengthen grassroots mobilisation and support for Tinubu's re-election.

The constitution of the council comes days after APC elders in the state called on supporters of Aiyedatiwa and Tunji-Ojo to work together and avoid actions capable of deepening divisions within the party. The APC's move is seen as an effort to promote unity and strengthen the party's chances in the upcoming elections. The council's effectiveness will be crucial in determining the party's performance in the 2027 general elections.

The Ondo APC's decision to constitute the campaign council reflects the party's determination to secure victory in the 2027 elections. With a diverse group of stakeholders and leaders, the council is expected to play a crucial role in mobilising support for Tinubu and other APC candidates. The party's efforts to promote unity and strengthen its grassroots mobilisation will be closely watched in the coming months.

As the 2027 general elections approach, the Ondo APC's campaign council will face the challenge of coordinating the party's efforts across the state. With Governor Aiyedatiwa as chairman, the council is expected to drive the party's mobilisation efforts and ensure a strong showing in the elections.
