During the sensitization drive, Abosede Odulesi, director of the Agency for Mass and Lifelong Education, encouraged people who had missed the opportunity to attend school to take advantage of the government's free adult literacy and skills acquisition initiative. She urged them to enroll at the center closest to their environment, assuring them that textbooks and other writing materials would be available at no cost.
Odulesi emphasized that education remains a powerful tool for personal and socio-economic development, leading to greatness in life. She noted that people who can read and write would have their lives transformed. The government has also provided opportunities for different vocations, such as garment making, hair dressing, and catering, for those interested in learning a trade.
The initiative has yielded positive results, with several beneficiaries testifying to the impact of the program. Christianah Ogunleye and Olatunde Ajoke from Ayetoro center, as well as Jimoh Quadri from Itele center, shared their experiences of being upgraded from illiterates to literates. They expressed gratitude to the government for providing them with the opportunity to read, write, and speak publicly.
Juliet Akinleye, another beneficiary, confirmed that the training was free and provided with adequate equipment supplied at no cost. The government's effort to provide vocational and skills training has been appreciated by the beneficiaries, who see it as an opportunity to acquire skills and improve their lives.
