A group of Ogun State indigenes residing in Enugu State recently held a reception for the PDP deputy governorship candidate, Hajia Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo. The event was a show of support for the PDP and its candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections. The group, led by Dr. Lekan Oladapo, expressed their commitment to effecting change in Ogun State. They praised the PDP governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, and his running mate, Sowunmi-Kolapo, for their manifestos and dedication to the state's progress.
Dr. Lekan Oladapo stated that Ogun State was not living up to its potential, citing underdevelopment in various sectors, including infrastructure. He expressed concern that the state was not leveraging its ancient towns, such as Ijebu Ode and Abeokuta, for tourism and revenue generation. Oladapo also mentioned the potential for exporting herbal products to earn foreign currency. He emphasized that the elite of Ogun State could no longer be deceived and were now seeking a change that would move the state forward.
Oladapo commended the PDP for choosing Sowunmi-Kolapo as the deputy governorship candidate, citing her integrity and antecedents. He assured her that the people would mobilize heavily to vote for the PDP in the 2027 elections. Oladapo also stated that the votes for the PDP would be without sentiments, and they would sensitize their communities to come out and vote. Sowunmi-Kolapo stated that under the PDP government, Ogun State would develop beyond expectations. She urged the people not to relent in the build-up to the 2027 general elections and to come out and vote out the current administration. Sowunmi-Kolapo also thanked the group for the reception and promised to take the message back to Hon. Ladi Adebutu.
