An Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court in Ogun State has granted bail to three suspects arrested for allegedly assaulting and obstructing police officers. During the confrontation, Inspector Abolarinwa Wasiu and Corporal Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted. The incident was reportedly triggered by the driver of the impounded vehicle, who called Alaba Mulika, an alleged Indian herb seller from Awa-Ijebu. Mulika allegedly stormed the scene, attacked the officers, and prevented the vehicle from being taken to the Ago-Iwoye Police Station.
Video recordings of the incident circulated on social media and were reviewed during the investigation. The defendants are facing five counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, serious assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. The Police Spokesperson noted that the court granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties.
The sureties are required to provide evidence of tax payment and proof of house ownership within the court's jurisdiction, subject to verification by the court registrar.
