The daughters of late Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have expressed their support for Senator Solomon Adeola's governorship ambition in Ogun State. Lima and Kira Ogogo showed their support during a community clean-up exercise in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, organised by the Gen Z for Yayi support group. The exercise featured participants wearing branded T-shirts and was promoted on social media.
The community clean-up exercise was aimed at encouraging young people to contribute to their communities. Lima Ogogo said the initiative was a way of moving beyond complaints about government and taking action. According to her, the group gathered to demonstrate its support for Adeola while contributing to the cleanliness of their community.
In a video shared by Gen Z for Yayi on Instagram, Lima Ogogo stated that as Gen Z's, they are used to complaining about what their government is doing for them. However, she emphasized that the question should be what they are doing for the place they call home. The sisters' support comes weeks after the death of their father, a prominent figure in Yoruba-language cinema and a native of Ilaro, Ogun State.
Yayi had previously disclosed that he had planned to appoint the late actor as his Special Adviser on Tourism and Culture, with cabinet rank, if elected governor in 2027. He made the disclosure during a condolence visit to Ogogo's family in Ilaro. Yayi described Ogogo as an elder brother and said the late actor's experience in acting and knowledge of traditional culture informed his proposed appointment.
Following Ogogo's death, there have been calls for Yayi to consider appointing one of his daughters to the position he had intended for their father if he wins the 2027 governorship election. Ogogo died on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66. His death prompted tributes from political leaders and members of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
Kira Ogogo also declared her support for the APC candidate in a separate video from the exercise. She stated that her name is Shakirat Olawunmi Taiwo Omokulodo and that this was their way of showing support to the incoming governor of Ogun State, Senator Adeola Olamilekon Yayi.
The latest show of support by Ogogo's daughters comes against the backdrop of their late father's relationship with Yayi and the senator's previously stated plan to involve Ogogo in his administration. Yayi is currently the All Progressives Congress candidate in the Ogun State governorship race, ahead of the 2027 election.
