Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Chairperson Gladys Wanga has announced that party leader Oburu Oginga is recovering steadily and remains in high spirits. Wanga visited Oburu, who is also the Siaya Senator, on Tuesday evening and assured Kenyans that his condition is improving. According to Wanga, Oburu is on the road to full recovery and is being supported by prayers from the party and its members.

Oburu Oginga recently sought medical attention at Nairobi Hospital, sparking concerns about his health. ODM Director of Communication Philip Etale had earlier reassured the public that Oburu had gone to the hospital for a routine check-up. Etale emphasized that there was no cause for alarm, dismissing reports suggesting that Oburu's visit was an emergency. He also clarified that Oburu had spoken to him on Monday evening and had confirmed that he had gone to the hospital on Sunday for a routine check-up.

Etale urged the public to verify information before sharing reports about Oburu's health, amid circulating reports on social media and in sections of the media. He emphasized that Oburu's temporary absence from active politics should not be interpreted as a withdrawal from party affairs. According to Etale, Oburu will return to political activities in due course and will not be actively involved in politics for the next few weeks.

The ODM party has dedicated October to commemorating the late former party leader Raila Odinga. Etale explained that the month-long commemoration is not a celebration but rather a tribute to Raila Odinga's values and freedoms. The party and the family have invited the whole country to remember Raila Odinga and his contributions to Kenyan politics.

Etale also clarified that Oburu's visit to the hospital was not an emergency but a routine check-up. He attributed the rumors about Oburu's health to speculation and misinformation on social media. According to Etale, Oburu is an old man and, as such, requires regular medical check-ups.

Wanga's update on Oburu's health comes as a relief to ODM members and supporters who had been concerned about his well-being. The party leader's health has been a subject of discussion in the media, with many speculating about the cause of his hospitalization. Wanga's assurance that Oburu is recovering steadily has helped alleviate some of these concerns.

Oburu Oginga's recovery is expected to be a significant boost to the ODM party, which has been preparing for the 2027 general elections. As the party leader, Oburu plays a crucial role in shaping the party's strategy and direction. His return to active politics is expected to energize the party and its supporters.
