The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Orientation Course for 2026 Batch C Stream I commenced in Osun State on Wednesday, with the State Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, urging Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) to strictly observe camp rules and prioritize their safety throughout the exercise. The orientation course is taking place at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, Osun State. Kubiangha emphasized the importance of discipline, compliance with guidelines, and active participation to ensure a smooth, safe, and impactful orientation course.
During the registration process, Kubiangha assured the PCMs that it would be seamless if they carefully followed instructions from Camp officials. He noted that every valid call-up letter carried a QR code for verification and advised the PCMs to report any document without the code as a possible anomaly. The PCMs were also urged to carefully examine all forms and documents before filling them out to allow for necessary corrections and adjustments.
The NYSC Osun State Coordinator advised the PCMs to disclose any existing medical conditions and to pay close attention to their health while participating in the various Camp activities, including parade, volleyball, and football. He urged them to recognize their individual health needs and seek appropriate medical attention whenever necessary. This is to ensure that the PCMs are aware of their health status and take necessary precautions to prevent any health-related issues during the orientation course.
According to Kubiangha, the Orientation Course is designed to reshape, strengthen, and further develop the character of the PCMs, building on the foundations acquired in their various tertiary institutions. He explained that the presence of military personnel, the Police, Man O' War, and other collaborating agencies was part of the effort to instill discipline, integrity, and responsible conduct among Course participants.
The State Coordinator encouraged the PCMs to speak up and seek clarification whenever necessary, assuring them that appropriate action would be taken against any act of molestation, harassment, or other forms of misconduct on the camp. He drew their attention to the various signposts and notices strategically placed around the Camp, urging them to familiarize themselves with and comply with the rules and regulations governing their stay.
Addressing the issue of dislodged PCMs, Kubiangha said he had already communicated with his counterparts in Lagos and Ekiti States, assuring the affected PCMs that they would receive equal treatment and enjoy the same opportunities and facilities available to other participants. The Head of Registration, Mrs Fatima Taiwo, listed the documents required for registration, including the original call-up letter, green card, addendum, NERD clearance, degree certificate, and National Identification Number (NIN) slip.
The Camp Commandant, Captain YA Nuhu, and the Camp Director, Mrs Ronke Otunla, also addressed the PCMs, assuring them of the Camp Officials' guidance and mentorship throughout the Orientation Course. The PCMs were received at the Servicom desk with refreshments and sanitary pads for the female PCMs, and medical personnel conducted health screening by checking their vital signs as part of the registration process.
