Police in Ntungamo District have arrested a man suspected of murdering his five-year-old stepdaughter, Amuron Christine, on October 9, 2026, at about 12:15 a.m. in Rwera Cell, Kitashekwa Ward, Kakukuru, Rwenanura Town Council. The suspect, Asiimwe Felix, was detained at Ntungamo Central Police Station as investigations into the incident continue. According to SP Kasasira Samson, the Rwizi Region Police spokesperson, the incident was reported to police at about 7:43 a.m. by the area LC1 chairperson, Tumwesigye Isdoro.

The police account indicates that the suspect and the deceased’s mother, Tumushabe Agnes, also known as Narurungi, had been living together as husband and wife but reportedly experienced domestic disputes. On October 8, 2026, the couple allegedly went to a bar, where the suspect reportedly quarrelled with other people. They later returned home, but the disagreement allegedly continued as the mother was serving him supper.

Police allege that the suspect began fighting with his partner, prompting their daughter, who had been sleeping in the bedroom, to intervene in an attempt to stop the confrontation. The child’s mother subsequently left the house and reportedly went to sleep at a neighbour’s home, leaving the suspect and the child behind.

Police further reported that the suspect later went to the home of a woman identified as Twetise Juliet, reportedly searching for his partner. Twetise allegedly noticed blood on the suspect’s clothes and asked him where it had come from. However, he reportedly remained silent before leaving.

The following morning, Twetise became concerned and went to the home of the child’s mother, where she allegedly discovered Christine’s lifeless body outside a neighbouring house that was unoccupied. According to the police statement, investigators established that the child had allegedly been attacked inside the house before her body was moved to the neighbouring unoccupied house.

Police said bloodstains were found on the door and floor of the house, while a large stick bearing suspected bloodstains was recovered as the suspected murder weapon. The police account further indicates that the child sustained multiple blows to the head from a blunt object, resulting in severe skull injuries. A postmortem examination was conducted at the scene after it had been documented by investigators.

SP Kasasira said the suspect remained in custody at Ntungamo CPS to assist with investigations into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death. Police attributed the alleged killing to domestic violence, although investigations into the incident were still ongoing at the time of the report. The suspect remains an alleged perpetrator as police continue their investigations, and the allegations have yet to be tested in court.
