Henry Nana Boakye, a hopeful for the New Patriotic Party's National Vice-Chairperson position, has emphasized that his relatively young age should not be misconstrued as a lack of experience. With 26 years of uninterrupted service to the NPP, Nana B claims to have traversed almost every level of the organization. His involvement in the party began at the age of 19, shortly after completing Prempeh College, when he served as a polling agent during the 2000 general election.
Nana B's party experience spans various levels, including polling station, electoral area, constituency, and regional and national structures. He has served twice as a polling station chairman, electoral area chairman, and constituency communications officer, as well as worked at the regional level. Additionally, he was involved in establishing the Tertiary Students' Confederacy Network (TESCON), becoming its founding president at the School of Mines, now the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), in Tarkwa.
Nana B's involvement in student politics continued at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he studied law and served as TESCON president. At the national level, he has served on the party's National Steering Committee and played a role in national youth programs during Sammy Awuku's tenure as National Youth Organizer. He has also served as a national communications officer, exposing him to the party's operations at the highest level.
Nana B believes his extensive experience has given him an understanding of the NPP through periods of both success and setbacks. He claims to know the party's rise and fall, its victories and losses, making him the ideal candidate for the Vice-Chairperson position. His political journey, he says, has been one of being "trained and groomed by the party," giving him a deep understanding of its structures, challenges, and grassroots operations.
The NPP is scheduled to elect its national executives on Saturday, October 3, 2026, with 13 candidates contesting the Vice-Chairperson position. Nana B is seeking to move from his current position as National Organiser to the Vice-Chairperson position in the party's new national leadership structure. The other aspirants include Mustapha Hamid, Kojo Bamba, Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah, Richard Ahiagbah, Masawood Mohammed, Oti Aboagye, Abena Pokuaah Amoah Boaitey, and Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong.
The remaining aspirants are Horma Akesie Miezah, Sam Pyne, Nana Akomea, and Bright Essilfie. Nana B's long-standing involvement in the NPP, he argues, makes him well-suited to understand the party's needs and lead effectively. His experience, he believes, sets him apart from the other aspirants.
