The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Bongo, Ghana, has challenged the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to account for its development record in the district. The NPP claims that its previous administration undertook over 125 project interventions across nine sectors during its first two years in office. These interventions covered various sectors, including roads, education, healthcare, agriculture, electricity, water and sanitation, judicial infrastructure, markets, and industrial development.

According to the NPP's Communications Officer, Agengre Daniel Asebila, the party's interventions included 18 road, bridge, and drainage projects, 13 agricultural infrastructure interventions, 14 education projects, and eight energy and power infrastructure projects. The party also listed five health infrastructure projects, one judicial infrastructure project, nine market and public infrastructure projects, two industrial and economic infrastructure projects, and 56 water and sanitation project entries.

In the education sector, the NPP cited several projects, including classroom blocks at Akulyor, Ayopia, Beo, Gurigo, Kanga, Kansoe, Zorkor Kanga, and Daliga. The party also mentioned the construction of a dining hall pavilion at Zorko Senior High School, a dormitory at Bongo Senior High School, and the supply of 500 dual desks to basic schools across the district. These projects demonstrate the NPP's contribution to development in Bongo.

The NPP also highlighted its agricultural sector interventions, including nine projects under the One Village, One Dam initiative in several communities. Additionally, the party cited the establishment of a factory at Bogrigo under the One District, One Factory initiative and the construction of a warehouse for the Shea Butter Factory along the Dua Feeder Road. These projects aim to promote industrial development in the district.

Water and sanitation accounted for the largest number of project entries, with 56 interventions involving boreholes, small-town water systems, public toilets, biodigester-supported washrooms, and rainwater harvesting facilities. The NPP argued that these projects demonstrate its commitment to improving the lives of residents in Bongo.

The NPP questioned why the current NDC administration has yet to demonstrate a comparable record of completed projects, despite having representatives in key positions, including the Regional Minister, Member of Parliament, and District Chief Executive. The party called on the government to provide residents with a verifiable account of development projects undertaken in Bongo since January 2025.

The development record presented by the NPP has sparked a challenge to the NDC to account for its own development record in the district. The NDC has yet to respond to the NPP's claims. The exchange highlights the ongoing debate about development and accountability in Ghana's political landscape.
