The National Paralympic Committee of Ghana (NPC Ghana) has appointed Theophilus “Theo” Sampah as the official Media Officer of the Black Challenge for Ghana’s participation in the 2026 World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) World Cup in Mexico. Sampah, a media professional with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, will oversee media accreditation coordination, team press operations, and official communications. His role will ensure timely and accurate information is shared with the public and media.
The 2026 WAFF World Cup is scheduled to take place in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico, from 13–22 November 2026, featuring 24 national teams competing for the world title. Sampah’s appointment comes ahead of national camp preparations, and he will work closely with tournament organisers on media accreditation requirements. He will also serve as the link between team management and journalists seeking official information.
As Media and Administrative Officer of the Ghana Amputee Football Association, Sampah already has experience working with the team. His new role will see him manage team press activities and communications from the build-up to post-tournament media engagements. This will provide a clear point of contact for journalists covering Ghana’s preparations and participation in the World Cup.
Ghana has named a 20-player provisional squad for national camp preparations, comprising three goalkeepers and 17 outfield players from clubs and programmes in Ghana and Türkiye. The final World Cup squad is still to be determined. The Black Challenge will be looking to build on their continental success, having won the African amputee football title in Tanzania in 2021 and claimed gold at the inaugural African Para Games in Accra in 2023.
The team retained their African title in Cairo in 2024, defeating Morocco 2–1, which also secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
