The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing responsive and efficient regulatory support to investors in Ghana's oil and gas sector. This commitment was made during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Pumagas, led by General Manager Lanzeni Coulibaly, to NPA Chief Executive Godwin Kudzo Tameklo on Monday. The visit aimed to formally introduce Pumagasa, a subsidiary of Puma Energy, and its key distributors and dealers to the NPA.

Puma Energy Ghana has deepened its investment in the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector, particularly in the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM). The company presented new branded cylinders to Mr. Tameklo, representing a further step in its efforts to strengthen its participation in the CRM ecosystem. The Pumagas delegation expressed appreciation for the leadership and support provided by the NPA in advancing the CRM initiative.

Pumagas intends to adopt a policy to separate production and distribution activities, aiming to accelerate market adoption, expand its distribution network, and contribute to Ghana's CRM targets. This strategy is expected to support greater efficiency within the LPG value chain while strengthening the availability and accessibility of CRM cylinders to consumers.

NPA Chief Executive Godwin Kudzo Tameklo reaffirmed the Authority's commitment to providing continuous regulatory support to legitimate industry players. He stressed the importance of fairness, mutual respect, trust, and responsiveness in the relationship between the regulator and industry players. Mr. Tameklo noted that regulation should facilitate business growth while safeguarding public interest.

The NPA Boss emphasized the need for efficient and expeditious regulation, noting that regulatory processes must respond to the realities and timelines of businesses operating in a competitive investment environment. Ghana's downstream petroleum sector continues to attract investors partly due to a favourable regulatory environment that promotes fairness.

The engagement highlighted the importance of collaboration between the regulator and private-sector participants in achieving the objectives of the CRM. The NPA welcomed Pumagas' continued commitment to investing in the LPG sector and its efforts to strengthen its distribution and market-development strategy.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming the importance of continued engagement, collaboration, and mutual respect in supporting the growth of Ghana's LPG industry and the successful implementation of the CRM. The NPA assured Pumagas and other stakeholders of its full support in facilitating legitimate investments and resolving regulatory issues in a timely and constructive manner.
