A Northern-based support group of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the AA YARI Solidarity Movement (AA YASOMO), has announced plans to mobilise votes for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima. The group's National Chairman, Alhaji Umar Danmaigadi Moriki, made this announcement after the inaugural meeting in Abuja. Moriki expressed satisfaction with President Tinubu's administration, citing reforms in the economy, infrastructural investments, and fiscal policy measures.
The AA YASOMO movement described the appointment of former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdul'aziz Yari, as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council as a welcome development. Moriki praised Senator Yari as a grassroots politician with vast political networks, capable of delivering victory for the party. The group's core objective is to galvanise support for President Tinubu's re-election under Senator Yari's leadership.
According to Moriki, the movement aims to sensitise Nigerians on the importance of Tinubu's re-election and the advantages of continuity in governance. He commended the policies and programmes of President Tinubu's administration, particularly in the economy, infrastructure, and fiscal policy. The movement has established a robust structure across the North, with executives at Zonal, State, LGA, and Ward levels.
The group has 17 executives at the Zonal level, 32 executives in each of the 19 states, and 32 executives in each of the LGAs and Ward levels. Moriki disclosed that the group will soon commence the inauguration of its executives across the 19 Northern states. With these structures, the group is capable of mobilising millions of votes for President Tinubu and his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
Moriki stated that the group will begin grassroots engagement soon, with a determination to achieve their objectives through coordinated mobilisation and sustained engagement across Northern Nigeria. The movement's strategy involves expanding its grassroots mobilisation for APC success at all levels ahead of the 2027 election.
The AA YASOMO movement's plan to mobilise votes for President Tinubu's re-election is an indication of the APC's efforts to ensure victory in the 2027 general elections. The group's structures and arrangements are intact across Northern Nigeria, and they are set to engage in sustained mobilisation efforts.
The re-election bid of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima is expected to be influenced by the mobilisation efforts of various support groups, including the AA YASOMO movement. The group's efforts will likely contribute to the overall APC strategy in the 2027 general elections.
