The North Central All Progressives Congress has scheduled a grand rally for Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa State, next Saturday. This event is part of the region's Grassroots Mobilisation Movement programme aimed at supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027. The programme seeks to mobilize grassroots support across the North Central region.
At the movement's inaugural meeting in Abuja on Friday, Senator George Akume commended the national coordinator, Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono, for bringing the forum to fruition. Akume emphasized that the North Central region aims to deliver the highest regional vote total for President Tinubu. The meeting was attended by critical stakeholders across the region.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State expressed confidence that the region would deliver the highest number of votes for President Tinubu and other APC candidates in 2027. He noted that the region's political strength has significantly increased, with key political appointees, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the National Chairman of the APC.
Arc. Echono stated that the conversation is no longer about whether President Tinubu would win the North Central region, but about positioning the region to deliver the highest number of votes. He commended Senator George Akume, the North Central Governors' Forum, and other stakeholders for their support for the Renewed Hope Administration.
The forum resolved to intensify mobilisation of support for President Tinubu in 2027, aiming to deliver the region's highest vote total. It also agreed to organise a medical outreach programme, establish a Reconciliation Committee, and hold town hall meetings across the region. The Minister of Information, Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, described the movement as the first of its kind.
The North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement for Tinubu/Shettima seeks to take the party's message to the grassroots and mobilise support across the region. The movement is expected to serve as a launchpad and strategic mobilisation platform, bringing together political leaders, grassroots actors, and stakeholders under a shared vision.
The grand rally in Lafia is expected to be a significant event in the region's mobilisation efforts. With the region's strong political strength and commitment to supporting President Tinubu's re-election bid, the APC is optimistic about its chances in 2027. The movement's success will depend on its ability to mobilise grassroots support and deliver a high vote total for the party.
