A major breakthrough has been achieved in the longstanding land boundary and related disputes between the Nkoranza and Mo traditional areas in the Bono East Region of Ghana. The agreement was facilitated by the Executive Chairman of Ghana Link Network Services Limited, Mr Nick Danso Adjei, and the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi.
The paramount chiefs of the two traditional areas met for a peace dialogue on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, which resulted in an agreement to end the protracted dispute and restore peaceful relations between their communities. The traditional leaders also agreed to take the necessary steps to withdraw or discontinue the court cases associated with the disagreements.
The settlement is a significant achievement for the two traditional areas, whose longstanding differences over land, boundaries and related traditional matters had strained relations and, at various times, contributed to violent clashes. The agreement is expected to create a more stable environment for farming, commerce, investment and community development across the affected areas.
Mr Danso Adjei and the Regional Minister encouraged the chiefs and their respective traditional councils to place the safety, unity and development of their people above the issues that had divided the communities. The parties recognised the strong historical, cultural, family and economic ties between the people of Nkoranza and Mo.
The peace agreement will enable residents of the two traditional areas to rebuild trust and strengthen the peaceful coexistence that has historically connected their communities. The parties have been encouraged to ensure that the agreement is fully implemented, properly documented and communicated to their respective communities.
The traditional authorities are also expected to establish appropriate channels for addressing any future disagreements peacefully and promptly. Mr Danso Adjei commended the chiefs for demonstrating courage, maturity and a genuine commitment to peace. He also expressed his appreciation to the Bono East Regional Minister for his leadership and collaboration throughout the mediation process.
The successful mediation demonstrates what can be achieved when traditional leaders, public officials and private-sector actors work together in the national interest. Mr Danso Adjei remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote peace, social cohesion and sustainable development in communities across Ghana.
