The Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals has set a target of mobilising 10 million votes for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election. This was disclosed by the Convener and Chairman of the forum, Dr Kazeem Kolawale Raji, during a meeting with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, in Abuja. Raji stated that the forum would achieve this target through lawful, ethical, peaceful, and issue-based grassroots engagement.
The forum plans to leverage the professional and community networks associated with federal agencies across Nigeria to mobilise the 10 million votes. One of the forum's key objectives is to bridge the communication gap between government policies and the public by ensuring that the achievements, reforms, and measurable outcomes of the Tinubu administration are accurately documented and communicated to Nigerians. This, according to Raji, would be done through effective communication and grassroots engagement.
Senator George Akume commended the members of the forum for organising themselves into a cohesive body with a shared vision. He noted that the structures on the ground and the forum's mathematical projections made its proposed target of mobilising 10 million votes for the president achievable. Akume also charged the CEOs to take the administration's Renewed Hope reforms to the grassroots and counter disinformation surrounding the government's economic policies.
Akume, who was conferred with the position of Grand Patron of the Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals, urged the forum to promote the administration's image through effective communication. He stated that the reforms were not designed to impoverish Nigerians, but rather to promote the country's economic growth. The SGF assured the forum of the continued institutional support of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation in achieving its strategic objectives.
The Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Bekearedebo Augusta Warrens, received the delegation on behalf of Akume. The delegation was led by Raji, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the National Board for Technology Incubation. The forum's efforts to mobilise votes for the president were welcomed by the SGF, who emphasised the importance of effective communication and tracking of the forum's objectives and initiatives.
Dr Chidiebere John Ezeamama, the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, called for the establishment of a centralised digital platform to facilitate real-time information sharing, coordinate inter-agency participation, and track developmental milestones. Ezeamama stated that the platform would enable the forum to function as a work-related communication network and facilitate the achievement of its objectives.
The Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals aims to work closely with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to achieve its strategic objectives. The forum's efforts to promote the administration's image and counter disinformation surrounding its economic policies are expected to gain momentum in the coming months.
