Nigeria's Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has announced that the education sector will mobilize 10 million votes for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in the 2027 presidential election. This declaration was made during the inaugural meeting of the APC Presidential Campaign Committee Education Sector Mobilisation Working Group, which Alausa chairs. The minister emphasized the importance of continuity in the country's development, citing President Tinubu's transformative agenda over the last three years.

The education sector, comprising students, teachers, lecturers, administrators, governing councils, counsellors, and professional bodies, is strategically positioned to contribute significantly to Tinubu's re-election bid. Alausa urged members to extend their campaign beyond educational institutions to communities across the country. He stressed that Nigeria needs continuity and that re-electing President Tinubu would help consolidate gains, strengthen the economy, attract investment, and create more opportunities for Nigerians.

To achieve the 10 million vote target, the committee has established sub-groups covering various segments of the education sector, including universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, teachers, governing councils, counsellors, and technical and vocational education stakeholders. This structure aims to harness the nationwide reach of the education sector and create a coordinated campaign capable of delivering substantial electoral support for Tinubu.

Alausa reaffirmed his personal commitment to the campaign, pledging to work closely with members of the committee and its sub-groups to pursue the 10 million vote target. The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, serves as the Deputy Chairman of the working group, while the Executive Secretary of the Almajiri and Out-of-School Commission, Dr. Muhammad Idris, is the secretary.

The mobilisation effort is aimed at ensuring continuity in ongoing reforms and supporting policies designed to strengthen human capital development, economic growth, and national development. Alausa urged members to mobilise stakeholders across their constituencies and build broad-based support for the President ahead of the election.

The education sector's mobilisation strategy involves going deep into communities to mobilise support for President Tinubu. Alausa expressed confidence that with hard work, the sector can deliver 10 million votes. The committee's efforts will focus on sustaining implementation of reforms to deliver long-term results.

Key to the success of this mobilisation drive is collaboration among stakeholders. With a robust structure in place, the education sector is poised to play a significant role in President Tinubu's re-election bid. The minister's commitment and the sector's vast network position it for substantial electoral impact.
