Nigeria's Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has made a significant commitment to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027. At the inaugural meeting of the APC Presidential Campaign Committee Education Sector Mobilisation Working Group, Alausa pledged to mobilize 10 million votes from Nigeria's education sector. This move is expected to contribute substantially to the President's re-election effort.

The education sector, with its extensive network of students, teachers, lecturers, administrators, governing councils, counsellors, and professional bodies, is strategically positioned to play a crucial role in the President's re-election campaign. Alausa emphasized the importance of continuity, noting that President Tinubu has changed Nigeria's fortunes and that a second term would help consolidate gains, strengthen the economy, attract investment, and create more opportunities for Nigerians.

The Working Group, chaired by Alausa, has been established to coordinate the education sector's support for the President's re-election bid. The Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Said Ahmad, serves as Deputy Chairman, while the Executive Secretary of the Almajiri and Out-of-School Commission, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, is the Secretary. Other members include key stakeholders from the education sector, such as Comrade Sunday Asefon, Adedeji John Demola, Adebayo Onigbanjo, and Dr. Ronke Soyombo.

Alausa has urged members of the committee to engage stakeholders across their various constituencies and build broad-based support for the President ahead of the 2027 election. To strengthen coordination, the committee has established sub-groups covering universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, teachers, governing councils, counsellors, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) stakeholders, and other segments of the education sector.

The goal of the committee is to leverage the education sector's nationwide reach to create a coordinated campaign structure capable of delivering substantial electoral support. Alausa emphasized that many of the reforms currently underway require sustained implementation to deliver long-term results, adding that a second term for President Tinubu would help ensure the continuation of his transformative agenda.

The Minister's pledge to mobilize 10 million votes from the education sector is a significant boost to President Tinubu's re-election bid. With the education sector's extensive network and the committee's coordinated campaign structure, the President's campaign is expected to receive substantial support from the sector. The committee's efforts will focus on building broad-based support for the President and ensuring a successful re-election bid in 2027.
