Amos Dangut has officially taken over as the new Registrar/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), marking a significant milestone in his career. Prior to his new role, he served as Head of the WAEC National Office in Nigeria, a position he took on October 2, 2023. His extensive career in education began in 1994 when he joined St Louis College, Jos, as a teacher and WAEC examiner.

Dangut joined WAEC in 1998 and has since held various positions within the council, including Assistant Registrar/Subject Officer, Senior Assistant Registrar/Head of Examinations Security, and Deputy Registrar/Controller. His experience spans test development, test administration, and branch and zonal office management. WAEC describes Dangut as skilled and versatile, with a strong commitment to service.

Throughout his career, Dangut has demonstrated integrity, transparency, and diligence, earning recognition from the Nigeria Examinations Committee and the Ondo State Government. As Head of the National Office, he served on the governing boards of several educational institutions and represented WAEC at education policy forums. Dangut championed innovations aimed at strengthening examination delivery, security, integrity, and efficiency.

Dangut's educational background includes a Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Production, a Master of Science in Animal Science, a Doctor of Philosophy in Animal Science, and a Master of Education in Administration and Planning. Born on October 2, 1967, he has leveraged information and communications technology to improve processes in test development and examination administration.

As the new Registrar/CEO, Dangut succeeds Pateh Bah of The Gambia, who served in the position prior to his appointment. WAEC is a regional examination body that conducts examinations for secondary school students in West Africa. The council's governing board has expressed confidence in Dangut's ability to lead the organization.
