The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced an extension of its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom. The exercise, which was initially set to end, will now run from October 6 to 30. This decision was made due to the high turnout and sustained demand from Nigerians in the UK.
According to Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) Akinsola Akinlabi, the extension was directed by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. Akinlabi urged Nigerian communities in the UK to take advantage of the extension to renew their passports. He also informed them of the designated venues for the intervention exercise.
The intervention exercise will take place in several UK cities, including London, Manchester, and Aberdeen. In London, the exercise will be held at 56-57 Fleet St, Temple, London EC4Y 1JU. In Manchester, it will be held at the Nigerian House, 23 Platt Ln, Manchester M14 5NE. In Aberdeen, the venue will be the Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen, AB24 4NR.
Akinlabi also announced that the venue for the exercise in Cardiff would be announced subsequently. Applicants are advised to monitor the Nigeria High Commission's website and the NIS's official communication channels for updates. Akinlabi emphasized the importance of adhering to scheduled dates and times to ensure a smooth process and minimize delays. He also reaffirmed that the Contactless Passport Application System remains fully operational. Eligible applicants can utilize this platform to renew their passports without visiting any Nigerian Embassy, High Commission, or Consulate.

Cash payments will not be accepted at the venue, and presentation of the applicant's current passport is mandatory for renewal cases.
