On November 2, 2026, Alhassane Ibounou, Director Regional de l'Education Nationale, de l'Alphabétisation et de la Promotion des Langues, visited Collège d'Enseignement Secondaire (CES 3) in Tahoua as part of the "One Week, One School" initiative launched by Minister of Education, Dr. Elisabeth Shérif. This initiative aims to improve education in Niger. Ibounou and his delegation were warmly received by the school's administration, teachers, and parents.

CES 3 was created in 2009 as CEG 5 and began operating in 2011 before evolving into a CES in 2018. The school currently has 1577 students, including 812 girls, and 50 teachers, one of whom is a volunteer. The school's administration took the opportunity to present the school's situation and raise concerns about the lack of classrooms and the absence of an administrative block.

Ibounou and his delegation attended the traditional flag-raising ceremony, where the two national anthems were played. The school's principal presented the school's achievements, including a 69.38% pass rate in BEPC and 30.76% in BAC in 2026. Ibounou commended the teachers and encouraged them to work harder to achieve better results in 2027.

The "One Week, One School" initiative allows education officials to engage with schools across the region. Ibounou emphasized the importance of mastering the "Confédérale," a national anthem symbolizing unity and sovereignty. He also visited two exam classes, a 3rd-grade class, and a Terminal D class, offering advice to students preparing for the BEPC and BAC exams.

The school's administration expressed gratitude for the visit and the opportunity to discuss their challenges. Ibounou's visit aimed to boost morale and encourage students and teachers to strive for excellence. The Director Regional de l'Education Nationale also acknowledged the efforts made by the school's administration and teachers.

The CES 3 in Tahoua has made significant progress since its inception. The school's growth and achievements demonstrate the commitment of its staff and students. Ibounou's visit served as a motivation for the school community to continue working towards improving education in the region.

The "One Week, One School" initiative will likely continue to visit schools across the region, providing support and guidance to students and teachers. The Niger education sector is working to improve learning outcomes and provide quality education to all students.
