The government of Niger has announced the implementation of a stricter regulatory framework for the physical transport of funds within the country. This move aims to prevent terrorism financing while ensuring the secure circulation of legitimate capital. The new regulations, outlined in a joint decree, require the declaration of all fund transports exceeding banking thresholds.

According to the new rules, any transport of funds exceeding the thresholds set by banking regulations must be declared in advance to the competent authorities. If the documentation is regular and consistent with the amounts transported, the operation will proceed without delay. However, any failure to declare, inconsistencies, or indications of infractions will lead to the strict application of legal procedures.

The President of the Transition, Abdourahamane Tiani, has also ordered the restitution of previously seized or retained funds. This restitution will occur once the origin, property, and destination of the capital have been duly justified, and in the absence of any judicial obstacles. The goal is to track illicit circuits without hindering legitimate economic activity.

The ministers of Economy and Finance, Justice, Interior, and Public Security are responsible for the effective implementation of this new regulation. The government has called on financial institutions, payment companies, economic operators, and the entire population to respect these procedures to guarantee the security and stability of the country.

The new regulations aim to strike a balance between combating illicit financial flows and facilitating legitimate economic activities. By ensuring that all fund transports are properly declared and monitored, the government hopes to prevent the misuse of funds for terrorist activities.

The introduction of these regulations is part of a broader effort to strengthen the country's financial system and prevent the financing of terrorism. Niger's authorities have been working to improve the transparency and accountability of financial transactions, in line with international standards and best practices.

The government has emphasized the importance of cooperation and collaboration between all stakeholders in the implementation of these new regulations. By working together, the authorities aim to create a safer and more secure financial environment that supports the country's economic development.
