The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) has introduced a WhatsApp subscription channel for its NGX Invest platform, providing investors with an additional route to participate in public offers, rights issues, and initial public offerings. This new channel allows investors to subscribe to eligible public offers through WhatsApp without needing to download a separate application. The NGX Invest platform is connected to over 100 distribution channels, including stockbrokers, banks, fintechs, and mobile operators.
To access the service, investors can send "Invest" to the official NGX Invest WhatsApp number, +234 812 731 9521, and follow the prompts to view eligible offers and complete the required subscription process. Although WhatsApp serves as the interface, investors will still need to select a stockbroker through which their applications will be processed. This arrangement maintains the role of stockbrokers in the investment process while making access to primary-market opportunities more convenient for investors.
The WhatsApp integration is part of NGX Invest's wider distribution network, which uses API connectivity to link issuers with over 100 channels spanning stockbrokers, banks, fintech platforms, mobile operators, and other financial institutions. This model allows investors to access offers through platforms they already use, while giving issuers additional channels through which to reach potential investors.
The NGX Invest platform was launched in 2024 as an SEC-approved electronic offering platform for public offers, rights issues, and IPOs. Since its launch, the platform has facilitated over 23 primary-market transactions and supported over ₦3 trillion in capital raising. The introduction of the WhatsApp channel adds another layer to the distribution infrastructure, making it easier for investors to participate in the capital market.
The NGX Group emphasized that security remains central to the new investor journey. While WhatsApp provides the interface, subscriptions are processed through NGX Invest's regulated infrastructure. Investors are advised to use only the official NGX Invest WhatsApp number and to avoid sharing sensitive credentials with third parties.
The move is expected to make the initial discovery and subscription process easier for investors, while giving issuers another channel to reach a wider investing public. This development is part of NGX Group's broader strategy of using technology, partnerships, and open distribution infrastructure to widen participation in Nigeria's capital market.
The introduction of the WhatsApp channel is a significant step towards increasing accessibility and convenience for investors in Nigeria's capital market. With this new channel, investors can now participate in public offers and other primary-market transactions through a popular messaging platform, further expanding the reach of the NGX Invest platform.
