Vice President Kashim Shettima has stated that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has successfully completed the hardest part of Nigeria's economic reset. He made this statement during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Calabar, Cross River State. According to Shettima, the economic reforms undertaken by the administration have laid the groundwork for prosperity, and the next phase will deliver tangible fruits to citizens.
Shettima rallied support for the re-election of President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general election, describing them as trustworthy friends of the people. He emphasized that the administration's painful but necessary economic reforms have cleared the runway for an era of pure harvest, nationwide growth, and prosperity. The Vice President expressed confidence that the APC has the capacity to move the nation's economic trajectory in the right direction.
The Vice President maintained that what has brought the APC and Nigerians together is an alliance for progress, prosperity, opportunity, and dignity. He stressed that the conviction that must govern every decision is that the people are the purpose. Shettima noted that the Tinubu administration and the APC are seeking the opportunity to carry their work into a second term because authority belongs to the people.
During the rally, Shettima commended the APC in Cross River State for keeping its house in order and becoming a model of strength and vision, unity and discipline, courage and conviction, loyalty and service, sacrifice and solidarity. He cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as an example of the administration's vision to open up Cross River State to the world. The project aims to connect coastal communities, ease the movement of goods and people, expand tourism, and create thousands of jobs.
Shettima also mentioned that the Bakassi Deep Sea Port has received Federal Government approval and support under President Tinubu. He pledged to make the dream come true as an international maritime gateway. The Vice President's comments suggest that the administration is committed to implementing projects that will drive economic growth and development in the country.
Other speakers at the rally, including National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentanwe Yilwatda, and Governor Bassey Otu, saluted the courage and farsightedness of President Tinubu. They cited various projects, including the consolidation of the deep sea port project, the resuscitation of the Calabar port, and the trans-Sahara super highway, as justification for supporting the APC ticket in the 2027 presidential elections.
The rally was part of the APC's campaign efforts ahead of the 2027 general election. The party is seeking to retain power, with President Tinubu and other candidates vying for re-election. The outcome of the election will be closely watched, as it will determine the direction of Nigeria's economic and political trajectory in the coming years.
