Rabat – In a recent announcement, Nexans, a global company specializing in sustainable electrification, revealed a change in its general management in Morocco. The company appointed Amine Houssaim as General Manager of the Nexans Northwest Africa Business Unit and Nexans Morocco, effective immediately, following the approval of the Board of Directors. Houssaim brings 20 years of experience in the industrial and energy sectors.
Houssaim's expertise includes managing industrial activities and operations, energy transition, and corporate transformation. Prior to joining Nexans, he held several positions in prominent companies, including OCP, Morocco's global leader in plant nutrition and the world's leading exporter of phosphate-based fertilizers. At OCP, he took on new responsibilities in renewable energy, hydrogen, and industrial decarbonization.
Additionally, Houssaim served as general manager of INNOVX, a subsidiary of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), where he led the development of innovative and sustainable industrial projects and ecosystems. Nexans stated that Houssaim's appointment is part of an effort to ensure business continuity and the proper execution of ongoing strategic projects.
Alongside Houssaim's appointment, Nexans also announced the appointment of Noureddine Aouda as Deputy General Manager of Nexans Morocco. Aouda will take on this new role while continuing as General Manager of Sirmel, a subsidiary of Nexans Morocco. According to Nexans, Aouda has extensive experience within the Nexans Group, particularly in innovation and digital development.
The organizational change follows Selma Alami's decision to leave Nexans to pursue new projects after over 20 years with the group. Alami held several leadership positions, including general manager of Nexans North & West Africa. Under her leadership, Nexans Morocco strengthened its industrial positioning, expanded its activities, and consolidated its role as a leading player in electrification and energy transition.
Despite her departure from her leadership role, Alami will remain a member of the Board of Directors of Nexans Morocco, providing her expertise to support the group in key projects. Nexans acknowledged her commitment, leadership, and significant contribution to the company's development, wishing her success in the next stage of her career.
The appointments of Houssaim and Aouda reflect Nexans' efforts to maintain momentum and drive growth in Morocco and West Africa. With their combined expertise, the company aims to continue playing a leading role in the region's electrification and energy transition.
