French-based cable and electrical systems company Nexans has announced the appointment of Amine Houssaim as the new General Director of its Northwest Africa and Maroc business units, effective immediately. This decision was validated by the company's board of directors. Houssaim brings over 20 years of experience in the energy and industry sectors to his new role.
Houssaim is an energy engineer by training and has developed solid expertise in managing industrial operations, energy transition, and business transformation. Prior to joining Nexans, he spent over 16 years at Air Liquide, where he held various leadership positions in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. He later joined the Office Chérifien des Phosphates ecosystem, where he took on new responsibilities in renewable energy, hydrogen, and industrial decarbonization.
Most recently, Houssaim served as General Director of INNOVX, a subsidiary of the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, where he led the development of innovative and sustainable industrial projects and ecosystems. In his new role at Nexans, he will work closely with the company's leadership to drive growth and implement strategic priorities in Northwest Africa.
Nexans has also announced the appointment of Noureddine Aouda as Deputy General Director of Nexans Maroc. Aouda will continue to serve as General Director of Sirmel, a subsidiary of Nexans Maroc. With his extensive experience within the Nexans group, particularly in innovation and digital development, Aouda will support Houssaim in driving the company's growth in North Africa.
These leadership changes follow the decision of Selma Alami to leave Nexans and pursue new projects. Alami had spent over 20 years with the company, holding various leadership positions, including General Director of Nexans North & West Africa. She will remain a member of the board of directors of Nexans Maroc, providing her expertise and support to key strategic projects.
The Nexans group has expressed its gratitude to Alami for her commitment, leadership, and significant contributions to the company's development. The company wishes her continued success in her future endeavors. Nexans has reaffirmed its commitment to growing its operations in Morocco, a key market in its strategy, particularly in electrification and energy transition.
The appointments of Houssaim and Aouda are expected to drive growth and innovation in Nexans' Northwest Africa business. The company's focus on sustainable development and energy transition is likely to continue under the new leadership. Key priorities for the company include expanding its presence in the region and investing in new technologies.
