The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has a new Commandant in Gombe State, Mohammed Inuwa Usman, who officially resumed office on Monday. The new Commandant has charged officers and men of the Command to be proactive, civil, and disciplined in discharging their constitutional responsibilities.
In his inaugural speech, Usman emphasized the importance of aligning his administration with the vision and transformational agenda of the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi. He pledged to prioritize staff welfare, training, and retraining, as well as operational efficiency, to reposition the Corps for greater service delivery. Usman's administration will focus on safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, protecting lives and property, and participating in disaster prevention and management.
The new Commandant has promised to strengthen intelligence gathering, inter-agency synergy, and community partnership as essential tools for effective security management. He called on the people of Gombe State to support the Corps with timely and credible information, while warning criminal elements to desist from criminal activities or face the full wrath of the law. Usman's leadership will be anchored on discipline, professionalism, integrity, and dedication to duty.
During the handing over ceremony, outgoing Commandant Jibrin Idris thanked the Commandant General for the opportunity to serve in Gombe State. He appreciated the Government and people of Gombe State, sister security agencies, and officers and men of the Command for their support and cooperation throughout his tenure. Idris called for the same level of support to be extended to his successor.
Mohammed Inuwa Usman has vowed to deliver on the Corps' statutory mandates, including the supervision of Private Guard Companies and participation in maintaining peace and security in the State. He has pledged to work closely with other security agencies to ensure a safer Gombe State. The new Commandant's inauguration marks a new era for the NSCDC in Gombe State.
