Hundreds of women in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, on Friday, declared their support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The women made their position known during a sensitisation and mobilisation tour of Nembe City and Opu-Nembe by the socio-cultural group, Nembe Se Unites.

The President and convener of Nembe Se Unites, Mrs Beatrice Numonyo Awululu, stated that the mobilisation of grassroots women programme, with the theme Ama-Ama (Village to Village) Tour for PBAT, is to woo women in the rural areas for the re-election bid of President Tinubu. According to her, under President Tinubu's administration, Nembe Local Government Area and, by extension, Bayelsa East have benefitted from the projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) with Dr Sam Ogbuku as the Managing Director.

Mrs Awululu noted that the women have resolved to support President Tinubu so that, after his re-election, he would be able to do more for the people. She commended Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, the NDDC MD, Dr Sam Ogbuku, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo and Chief Dr Kojo Sam for their steadfast support for the re-election bid of President Tinubu.

The coordinator of Ama-Ama tour for PBAT, Opu-Nembe, Mrs Seiyefa Clinton, explained that the purpose of the tour is to mobilise support for the APC and President Tinubu. She said the women are returning to a traditional practice where Nembe people deliberate and reach one accord on a specific critical issue.

According to Mrs Clinton, the women have reached one accord to give all their votes to the APC and President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections. The secretary-general of the group, Mrs Abel IkioMuna Faith, noted that the message to Nembe women is that they are all going to speak in one voice and queue behind their grand patron, Chief Dr Kojo Sam, to ensure the re-election of President Tinubu.

The duo of Mrs Inigoni Gamage, leader, Nembe City, Nembe Se Unites and Mrs Fakuma Ederson Zebidi, women leader of Okoroma, expressed confidence that with the level of mobilisation by the group, opposition parties would have no foothold to challenge the APC in the 2027 Presidential election.

The women's decision to support President Tinubu's re-election bid is based on the perceived benefits they have enjoyed under his administration, particularly the projects executed by the NDDC in Nembe Local Government Area and Bayelsa East. The women have been sensitised to collect their PVCs and vote to re-elect President Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
