As of November 7, 2026, nearly 160,000 Malians who were repatriated from Guinea have been registered in the Bamako district and Kourémalé. According to the Centre de coordination et de gestion des crises (CECOGEC), about 100,000 individuals are currently in Bamako, while approximately 60,000 are in Kourémalé. The situation has prompted a significant response from the Malian government.

The influx of repatriated Malians has resulted in several casualties, with six reported deaths and multiple injuries recorded in Kourémalé. In response to this crisis, the Malian government, through the Comité interministériel de gestion des crises et catastrophes, has implemented emergency measures to ensure the safe reception, security, and assistance of these individuals. These measures include coordinating with various ministerial departments to provide humanitarian aid.

To manage the large number of repatriated individuals, the government has established an emergency reception site in Ouinzimbougou. This site is being set up to accommodate those affected in suitable conditions. Furthermore, the government has mobilized resources, including 74 trucks and 24 buses, to transport approximately 15,000 people to Burkina Faso on November 6, 2026.

On November 5, 2026, Burkina Faso provided 47 buses and two other transportation means to facilitate the return of nearly 3,430 individuals. The following day, Mali deployed 74 trucks and 24 buses to organize the transportation of around 15,000 people to Burkina Faso. These efforts demonstrate the commitment of both countries to addressing the crisis.

Health services have been mobilized to provide care to the repatriated individuals, with 413 people receiving treatment in various health structures in the Bamako district. The response efforts have also seen significant community involvement, with citizens, social workers, economic operators, and volunteers contributing to the relief efforts.

The CECOGEC has called on regional authorities to maintain a high level of mobilization and vigilance to ensure the effective management of the repatriation process. The center has also praised the solidarity and generosity shown by the populations and various actors involved in the response efforts.

The Malian government continues to work with its partners, including Burkina Faso, to address the crisis. The response efforts are focused on providing assistance and support to those affected, with a focus on ensuring their safe return to their respective localities. The situation remains a priority for the government, which is working to ensure a coordinated and effective response.
