The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied reports suggesting that its national leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, is working with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against his own party ahead of the 2027 general elections. During a press briefing at the party's National Secretariat in Abuja, National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, dismissed the claims, emphasising that the party remains united and cohesive.

Cleopas addressed concerns over reports that the NDC had become unusually inactive or was facing organisational challenges ahead of the elections. He noted that the party's leadership had received numerous inquiries from members, supporters, and other Nigerians seeking clarification on the party's current activities and direction. The chairman reaffirmed that the National Working Committee (NWC), the National Executive Committee (NEC), the national leader, and the party's organisational structures remained committed to supporting the party's candidates.

Cleopas stated that Dickson was not engaged in any collaboration with the APC to undermine the NDC's presidential candidacy. He further argued that the party's decision to offer its platform to Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso demonstrated the leadership's commitment to advancing its political agenda. According to him, Dickson would never consider supporting Tinubu and the APC.

The NDC national leader's commitment to his party was questioned following reports of alleged collaboration with the APC. Cleopas called on members of the media to practise responsible journalism when reporting allegations and political speculation, cautioning that the dissemination of false information could create unwarranted suspicion and mislead voters.

The chairman commended the judiciary for providing the platform through which the NDC was registered and acknowledged the role of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He called for continued support for the electoral umpire, stressing the importance of its role in Nigeria's democratic process.

The NDC's clarification comes amid speculations about the party's preparedness for the 2027 elections. The party's decision to offer its platform to Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso has been seen as a strategic move to advance its political agenda.

The denial by the NDC is a significant development in Nigeria's political landscape, as the party seeks to maintain its unity and cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party's leadership has assured members and supporters of its commitment to supporting its candidates and advancing its political agenda.
