The National Union of Disabled Persons of Uganda (NUDIPU) is currently recruiting two Programme Assistants to support the implementation of project activities at the district level. The selected candidates will work in Kaberamaido, Uganda, and will be responsible for the day-to-day direct implementation of project activities as assigned by the Programme Officer in the Livelihood Programme. NUDIPU is an umbrella organization that promotes the rights of persons with disabilities in Uganda, with a vision of creating a just and fair society where persons with disabilities live a prosperous and dignified life.
The Programme Assistants will play a crucial role in implementing livelihoods, SRH, and GBV prevention activities in the district. Their key duties and responsibilities will include supporting the planning and development of livelihood, SRH, and gender programs, as well as partnering and linking project target beneficiaries and district unions to networks and opportunities. They will also coordinate all livelihoods, SRH, GBV prevention, and advocacy activities of the project at the district level.
The ideal candidates for this position should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Social Science, Community-Based Rehabilitation, or any other related discipline. A postgraduate diploma in project planning and management or monitoring and evaluation is an added advantage. The selected candidates should also have at least three years of experience in implementing livelihood interventions and community savings schemes, gender mainstreaming, and GBV prevention and response.
The Programme Assistants will be required to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak the local language. They should be comfortable working in multi-cultural settings and have strong writing and oral skills in English. The selected candidates will be responsible for supervising and appraising district-based staff, presiding over community sensitization meetings, and supporting program-wide progress and impact assessments.
The Programme Assistants will also be responsible for conducting mapping, profiling, and networking with financial services, as well as taking the lead in the implementation of iSAVE inclusive economic empowerment program activities in the district. They will manage the program's implementation, follow up on the budget and project planning, and identify the capacity building needs of partners at the district levels on SRHR activities for disability inclusion.
