Newly elected Second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has explained that his absence from the swearing-in ceremony of the party's newly elected national executives was not deliberate. According to him, he left the Baba Yara Sports Stadium briefly to freshen up after being on his feet throughout the election. Nana B said he was unaware that the Electoral Commission (EC) would complete the declaration of results and swearing-in process so quickly.

Nana B said by the time he returned to the stadium, the results had already been announced and the swearing-in ceremony had ended. He explained that it was never his intention to miss the swearing-in of the national executives. Nana B had been at the venue throughout the election and only decided to briefly leave after voting had ended. He said he wanted to go home to freshen up before the final declaration.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen, Nana B explained that he had heard various narratives about his absence but stressed that he had no intention of avoiding the ceremony. He expressed gratitude to NPP delegates for renewing their confidence in him, saying his election was a reflection of the years of work he had invested in the party. Nana B secured 3,061 votes to emerge as one of the party's three newly elected vice chairpersons.

Nana B was elected Second Vice Chairman at the NPP's National Delegates Conference held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, was elected First Vice Chairman with 3,116 votes, while Nana Akomea secured the Third Vice Chairman position. The three vice chairpersons were subsequently sworn into office alongside the other newly elected national executives.
