The Ghana Police Service has announced that Harold Norman, the husband of actress and fashion personality Rosamond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua, will be arraigned in court immediately after his discharge from hospital. According to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Mr. Norman was initially scheduled to appear before the court on October 7, 2026. However, his lawyer informed the Police that he had been hospitalized and was unable to attend.
The CID stated that investigators from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) visited the hospital to verify Mr. Norman's claim and are monitoring the situation. The Police assured that Mr. Norman would be arraigned as soon as he is discharged from the hospital. This development follows a petition submitted by Nana Akua to the Director-General of the CID on August 20, 2026, alleging physical, emotional, and economic abuse by her husband.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a case involving the couple had previously been handled by DOVVSU at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026. Following the receipt of Nana Akua's petition, Mr. Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27, 2026, to assist with investigations. A caution statement was subsequently obtained from him, and he was granted police enquiry bail on August 29, 2026, with two sureties.
The CID's statement was issued in response to a viral video alleging domestic abuse involving Nana Akua, which generated considerable public interest. The Police assured the public that they are working with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to provide social welfare services for Nana Akua and her children. The CID emphasized its commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that complaints are investigated professionally and fairly.
The Police urged the public to have confidence in the investigative process. Chief Inspector Francis Kwesi Yeboah, the CID Public Relations Officer, signed the statement. The CID is working closely with relevant stakeholders to ensure that Nana Akua and her children receive the necessary support.
Nana Akua's petition alleged that her husband had subjected her to various forms of abuse. The Police investigation is ongoing, and Mr. Norman's arraignment is pending his hospital discharge. The case has garnered significant public attention, and the Police have assured that they will handle it with the utmost professionalism.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to protecting victims of domestic violence. The CID's efforts to provide social welfare services to Nana Akua and her children demonstrate its dedication to supporting victims. The Police will continue to monitor the situation and ensure that justice is served.
