A senior Nairobi County Government official, Geoffrey Mosiria, has served a formal legal demand on popular YouTube personality Steve Thompson Magana, also known as Obinna TV Show, seeking KSh 20 million in compensation over sustained defamatory content. The demand letter, dated September 28, 2026, was issued on behalf of Mosiria, who is the Chief Officer in charge of Public Participation, Citizens Engagement and Customer Service at the County Government of Nairobi.
Mosiria's legal team cited a specific episode streamed on or about September 10, 2026, on Obinna TV's YouTube channel, featuring former Nairobi Senator Millicent Omanga, which included statements, references, and innuendoes about Mosiria that were demeaning and defamatory. The episode listed him by name as a purported contender for the Nairobi County Woman Representative seat, and the lawyers described a pattern of repeated targeting.
The jokes carried sexualised innuendo that falsely imputed attributes of gender fluidity and a sexual orientation Mosiria does not hold, exposing him to social stigma and reputational harm. Mosiria's lawyers stated that his children had been bullied at school and taunted with remarks that their father was "a woman," was "pregnant," and that a "baby shower" was imminent, claims traced directly to the jokes aired on the show.
The demand letter outlined harm that had spread to Mosiria's family, with his children and wife being subjected to targeted online bullying. The letter described the situation as having escalated into online bullying directed at Mosiria's wife, children, and other relatives. Mosiria's legal team issued three demands to be fulfilled within seven days of the letter's date.
The demands include removing the referenced content from YouTube and all other platforms under Obinna TV's control, issuing a written and public retraction and apology, and paying KSh 20 million as compensation for reputational injury. Failure to comply within the stipulated period would result in civil proceedings for defamation being filed without further notice.
The demand letter was signed by advocate Otieno Mokaya and warned that all consequential damages and costs would be pursued if the demands were not met. Mosiria's lawyers emphasized that the sustained defamatory content had caused harm to his reputation and family.
