The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre (NAFRC), Oshodi, Lagos, has been actively pursuing initiatives to support personnel development, operational readiness, and institutional welfare. Recent programmes in September and October 2026 reflect the centre's commitment to preparing officers for life after retirement while strengthening camaraderie and cooperation among personnel and partner organisations. Under the leadership of Commandant, Air Vice Marshal Nnaemeka Ignatius Ilo, the centre has been equipping military personnel with skills for productive engagement and supporting their professional development and welfare.
NAFRC's recent programmes address different aspects of military life, including entrepreneurship training and physical fitness. The entrepreneurship course prepares officers to apply their experience to business creation and economic development, while the route march reinforces the fitness and discipline required for national defence. These efforts aim to develop personnel and strengthen institutional life, enabling military personnel to transition smoothly into life after active service.
In September, NAFRC graduated 33 mid- and senior-level officers from Entrepreneurship and Management Course 19/2026, organised in collaboration with EMPRETEC Nigeria Foundation. The programme introduced participants to business opportunities and the knowledge required to establish and manage enterprises. Through classroom instruction, practical exercises, and study tours, officers learned to translate their military service, leadership experience, and professional discipline into sustainable enterprise and economic impact.
The 33 participants, comprising 17 mid-level and 16 senior-level nominations, alongside two senior officers sponsored by the Commandant, were drawn from various military agencies. They visited Beloxxi Industries, the National Conservation Centre, Cormart Nigeria Limited, FoodCo Bukka Restaurant, and Songhai Farm in Porto Novo as part of the programme. The course covered various modules, including agriculture, emotional intelligence, business management, and technical skills.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Commandant Ilo described the occasion as an important milestone in the centre's efforts to equip officers with practical knowledge of entrepreneurship and business management. He urged the graduands to apply what they had learnt to their respective services, communities, and future businesses while maintaining the values of discipline, integrity, and professionalism.
The centre has also been working to improve institutional welfare, including enhancements to the Officers' Mess and social activities like the annual Tombola Night. These initiatives aim to foster camaraderie and cooperation among personnel and partner organisations, promoting a sense of community and teamwork. By supporting personnel development and welfare, NAFRC is strengthening bonds beyond service.
The Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre's initiatives demonstrate its commitment to preparing military personnel for life after active service. By providing entrepreneurship training, promoting physical fitness, and enhancing institutional welfare, the centre is supporting the development of well-rounded and productive individuals. As the centre continues to implement its programmes, it is likely to have a positive impact on the lives of military personnel and their communities.
