Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has reiterated his administration's dedication to ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the state. He made this statement at the 2026 Plateau Annual Convention of the General Council of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, North East Zone, held in Jos. The governor emphasized his government's resolve to deploy all lawful means to safeguard citizens and communities against banditry, criminality, and other security threats.

The convention, themed "Breaking Barriers into Your Next Level," brought together leaders and members of the Assemblies of God Nigeria. Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the church for its unwavering support, prayers, and commitment to the peace and development of Plateau State. He acknowledged that the state had faced significant security challenges but assured that his administration, in collaboration with security agencies, was working to strengthen measures to address these issues.

Mutfwang commended the Assemblies of God Nigeria for its contributions to the spiritual and moral development of society. He noted that the church was born out of revival and could only thrive through sustained spiritual renewal. The governor emphasized his administration's focus on changing the negative narrative about Plateau State and pursuing development across critical sectors to improve citizens' welfare.

The governor stressed that his involvement in politics was driven by a desire to serve God and humanity. He called on citizens to remain united and reject the "pull-him-down" syndrome, which he believes undermines the state's progress. Mutfwang also appealed to Christian leaders to rise above divisions and become rallying points for unity, peace, and progress.

In his address, Mutfwang urged Christians to put aside differences, bitterness, unforgiveness, and arrogance that undermine the unity of the Body of Christ. He encouraged them to embrace humility, love, and reconciliation in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ. The governor's commitment to security and development resonated with the convention attendees.

The convention also featured a guest speaker, the former General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Nigeria, who commended Governor Mutfwang for his resilience and commitment to protecting lives and property. An Executive Council member, Rev. Jacob S. Langs, appreciated the governor for honouring the invitation and acknowledged his contributions to the development of Plateau State and the church.

The convention concluded with a donation by Governor Mutfwang to support widows, empower youths through entrepreneurship initiatives, and strengthen the activities of the convention.
