MultiChoice Ghana has introduced a new, simplified DStv package structure with prices starting at GH¢50 per month. The Managing Director and Country CEO of MultiChoice Ghana, Alex Okyere, stated that the affordability of the new pricing will be crucial in the fight against illegal streaming and pirated decoders. The new packages aim to make great content more accessible to all households in Ghana.
The new DStv package lineup consists of four straightforward options: Starter, Select, Sports, and Ultimate. The Starter package, priced at GH¢50, offers over 90 channels, including Akwaaba Magic, Cartoon Network, SuperSport LaLiga, and the Premier League Match of the Week. This package provides an affordable entry point for customers, with a range of channels to choose from.
The Select, Sports, and Ultimate packages offer increasingly more channels and premium content. The Select package, at GH¢100, offers 123 channels with additional movie and kids' content. The Sports package, priced at GH¢250, provides 132 channels, including every Premier League and Champions League match. The Ultimate package, at GH¢570, offers 153 channels with premium sports like Formula 1, MotoGP, and golf.
According to Mr. Okyere, the new pricing makes illegal alternatives unattractive. He emphasized that with prices starting at GH¢50, customers would spend more money streaming on pirating sites than just getting DStv. The company is working closely with the Minister of Communications and the Attorney General to clamp down on piracy, both online and on boxes brought in from other countries.
The new packages, which took effect from November 5, 2026, are designed to make great content more accessible to all households in Ghana. The migration for existing customers will happen automatically, and no new decoder is required. This move aims to provide a seamless transition for customers, ensuring they can continue to enjoy their favorite channels and content.
The new structure also includes channel enhancements, such as the merger of M-Net Movies 1 and 2 into M-Net Movies+ and the introduction of SuperSport KICKOFF. These changes aim to provide customers with a more comprehensive and enjoyable viewing experience. With the new packages, MultiChoice Ghana hopes to attract more customers and reduce piracy.
Key to the success of the new packages is the company's commitment to combating piracy. Mr. Okyere emphasized that there is no need for customers to stream or purchase boxes from other countries. With the affordable pricing, customers can access a wide range of channels and content through legitimate means.
