The Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, in coordination with the National Government Administration Officer (NGAO), has begun a nationwide field verification exercise for high-impact national government projects and programmes. This exercise aims to assess the progress, impact, and benefits of these projects to citizens. The State Department for National Government Coordination has already undertaken phase 1 of the exercise in Wajir, Garissa, Kilifi, and Mombasa Counties.

The field verification exercise focuses on 51 priority programmes and projects selected based on their linkage to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) priorities, the Fourth Medium-Term Plan (2023–2027) priorities, the National Development Implementation Committee (NDIC) priorities, and the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework budgetary provisions. Principal Secretary for the State Department for National Government Coordination, Ahmed Ibrahim, stated that the exercise aims to create public awareness of the investments being made towards service delivery to citizens.

The exercise provides residents with an opportunity to interact and dialogue with government officials to assess and verify the status, quality, and delivery process of selected projects and programmes across the county. Deputy County Commissioner, Wajir East, George Onyango, acknowledged the National Government's commitment to ensuring all projects are on course and their completion is achieved. He welcomed the multi-agency initiative and lauded the National Government for initiating and funding projects that have benefited Kenyans.

Residents pointed out infrastructure, healthcare, education, and housing as key priority areas to be considered in the engagements, saying improving livelihoods gives the national government an edge over rumours and propaganda. Deputy County Commissioner for Garissa County, Obel Ojwang, mentioned that there is a gap between what is happening on the ground and the information citizens are getting, and these forums will help citizens have a clear picture of what reality is transforming the country.

The field verification process also targeted senior officials from the State Department for National Government Coordination to participate in a tree planting exercise. Anne Olubendi from the office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary stated that they are supporting the Presidential directive and are keen to achieve the target. In Kilifi, they planted trees in the mangrove tree ecosystem at Uyombo village, highlighting the significance of restoring the coastal ecosystem.

The team visited various projects in Wajir, Garissa, Kilifi, and Mombasa Counties, including affordable housing programmes, roads, technical and vocational education and training institutions, and industrial parks. In Garissa County, they toured the Tana Bridge construction, affordable housing projects, and the AP Camp site, among others. The exercise continues next week in Bungoma, Vihiga, Homa Bay, and Kisii Counties.

The nationwide verification exercise aims to ensure that every investment by the government translates into tangible, verifiable benefits for citizens. The office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary is working to make sure that the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda delivers real impact. The exercise also demonstrates that communities come together to preach peace and promote unity of purpose.
