Telecom giant MTN Ghana has reported a profit before tax of GH¢ 11.3 billion for the first nine months of 2026, marking a 51.8% jump from the GH¢ 7.7 billion recorded during the same period in 2025. This significant growth was revealed in MTN Ghana's performance report for the nine-month period ended September 2026. The report highlights the company's strong financial performance, with total revenue reaching GH¢ 23.2 billion as of September 30, representing a 35.7% increase over the same period last year.

MTN Ghana's service revenue increased by 33.5% year-over-year to GH¢ 23.2 billion in the first nine months of 2026. This growth was driven by sustained demand for data services, increasing adoption of digital financial services, and continued customer engagement across the company's digital platforms. The company's Mobile Money Business also experienced significant growth, with a 26.5% increase to reach GH¢ 5.3 billion. This was supported by continued expansion across both core wallet services and advanced financial services.

The growth of MTN's Mobile Money Business was further driven by a 6.9% year-over-year increase in active Mobile Money users to 18.9 million. Basic services revenue increased by 22.2% year-over-year to GH¢ 3.5 billion, supported by growth in person-to-person transfers. Advanced services revenue increased by 28.7% year-over-year to GH¢ 1.9 billion, driven by higher adoption of digital payments, lending, and other value-added services. Transaction volumes and values continued to grow during the period, reflecting broader ecosystem participation and increasing digital payment adoption.

According to MTN Ghana Chief Executive Officer Stephen Blewett, growth remained well diversified across the company's key revenue streams. He stated that data revenue increased by 39.9% year-over-year in Q3, supported by sustained demand for data and digital services. The Chief Executive Officer added that the third-quarter performance further strengthened the company's nine-month results, demonstrating the resilience and diversification of its growth engines.

MTN Ghana's CEO also noted that the company's growth was driven by its continued execution across both Connectivity and Fintech businesses. He added that the company's performance also reinforced its capacity to generate earnings and cash flow while continuing to invest in the long-term growth of the business and deliver returns to shareholders. Despite the challenging global environment, Mr. Blewett stated that Ghana's operating environment remains relatively stable, with inflation on a moderating trajectory, external reserves strengthening, and economic activity demonstrating resilience.

Based on its financial performance for the third quarter, the MTN Board is proposing a gross interim dividend of GH¢ 0.03 per share for the third quarter ending 30 September 2026. The company stated that all dividends are subject to the deduction of applicable taxes. The number of ordinary shares in issue as of the date of the declaration is 13,236,175,050. The dividend payment will be transferred electronically to the bank accounts or mobile money wallets of shareholders who use these facilities on Thursday, 10 December 2026.

The proposed dividend payment is in line with the requirements of Ghana Stock Exchange rules, including the relevant dates relating to the payment of the dividend. An investor purchasing MTN GH shares before the relevant date will be entitled to the Q3 interim dividend. However, an investor buying MTN GH shares on or after Thursday, 26 November 2026, will not be entitled to the Q3 interim dividend. The company's financial performance for the third quarter demonstrates its strong growth trajectory and commitment to delivering returns to shareholders.
