Health technology company mPharma has initiated a free COVID-19 antigen testing programme called "Test to Save" in Ghana. The programme aims to provide 10,000 free tests to frontline workers and marginalized groups. The target groups include healthcare workers, education sector workers, the elderly, and persons living with disabilities. This initiative is being carried out through mPharma's network of Mutti community pharmacies across Ghana.

The testing will be administered by certified healthcare professionals through mPharma's Mutti Doctor Program for beneficiaries experiencing COVID-19-related symptoms. Test results will be shared within 30 minutes. As of February 15, 2022, Ghana had reported 158,038 COVID-19 cases with 1,431 confirmed deaths. Although the country is not currently experiencing a peak in cases, daily confirmations are still being reported at various healthcare facilities.

mPharma stated that professionals in the healthcare and education sectors are highly exposed to the virus due to their jobs and daily interactions. Additionally, persons with disabilities and the elderly are considered vulnerable due to limitations in the healthcare delivery system. The company aims to develop a community-centered approach to COVID-19 testing through this campaign.

The CEO of mPharma, Gregory Rockson, emphasized the company's efforts in building the continent's molecular diagnostic infrastructure throughout the pandemic. He noted that the company's initiative is behind the largest network of testing laboratories in Ghana. The "Test to Save" campaign is an important step in supporting the diagnosis, management, and recovery of COVID-19 patients in qualifying groups.

To request testing, individuals must complete a registration process on mPharma's website, mymutti.com, and order the free test using the promo code FREE10K. A call agent will contact the applicant and direct them to a qualified Mutti doctor for the test. Patients who test positive will be directed to take a PCR test at a government-approved laboratory.

Following a positive test result, mPharma's call centre team will conduct a wellness check to follow up on patients' recovery. The "Test to Save" campaign is a significant initiative in Ghana's fight against COVID-19, providing essential support to vulnerable groups. The campaign's impact will be closely monitored as it progresses.

The free COVID-19 testing programme is a collaborative effort by mPharma to support Ghana's healthcare system. By providing testing and resources to marginalized groups, mPharma aims to make a positive impact on the country's response to the pandemic. The company's efforts have been instrumental in expanding access to COVID-19 testing in Ghana.
