Member of Parliament for Bole-Bamboi Constituency, Yusif Sulemana, has assured the people of Mandari that the President John Dramani Mahama-led government is committed to leaving a lasting legacy in the community. He made this statement at the maiden homecoming ceremony of the Mandari community, which was held on the theme: "United for Progress: Building the Mandari We Want." The event brought together community members, government officials, and other stakeholders to discuss development priorities and showcase the community's culture.
Mr. Sulemana recalled supporting several projects in Mandari before becoming an MP, including the construction of a dam, a borehole, and a community library. He also mentioned that steps have been initiated to facilitate the expansion and upgrading of the health facility in Mandari into a health centre. This move aims to enhance the quality of services delivered to the community. The MP emphasized that he and President John Mahama are committed to making a positive impact in Mandari.
The MP pledged to facilitate the construction of a community centre, provide three mechanized boreholes, and furnish schools across the constituency, including Mandari. He also expressed commitment to youth development, having assisted some youth in Mandari to secure recruitment into the security services. Additionally, 17 others have been recruited as water guards. Mr. Sulemana commended the chiefs and people of Mandari for organizing the homecoming event to strengthen unity and mobilize support for the community's development.
Bole District Chief Executive, Abdulai Mahamud, observed that sustainable development requires strong partnerships between government, communities, and other stakeholders. He encouraged people from Mandari living outside the community to contribute their knowledge, skills, networks, and experience to the community's development. The Assembly has developed a concept note to address farmer-herder conflicts and will engage traditional authorities to work towards a lasting solution.
The Ghana Library Authority has earmarked GHS200,000.00 to expand the Mandari community Library. This decision was made because the CEO of the GLA, Ziblim Alhassan, recognizes the important role libraries play in promoting education, literacy, knowledge, and the development of young people. The expansion aims to provide more resources and opportunities for the community, especially the youth.
Youth President of Mandari, John Tesinia Seidu, called on young people in the community to play an active role in addressing the community's development challenges. He emphasized that the youth are ready to contribute their energy, innovation, and skills to community development but need to be heard, involved, and treated fairly in the distribution of resources. This appeal highlights the need for inclusivity and youth empowerment in community development initiatives.
The homecoming event provided a platform for the people of Mandari to come together, discuss their development priorities, and showcase their culture. The event featured performances of traditional dances, including the Sato, Giwaah, and Gbere dances. The gathering demonstrated the community's commitment to unity and progress, with various stakeholders, including government officials and community members, in attendance.
