The Dumpy Adams Stadium in Komani will host a highly anticipated soccer double-header this weekend, featuring the top teams in the Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League. Amavarara, leaders of the coastal stream with 10 points, will take on Old Grey from Gqeberha at 1pm on Saturday. Komani United, leaders of the inland stream with 12 points, will face FC Ravens at 3pm. Both teams will have the advantage of playing in front of their home supporters.
Amavarara will look to extend their gap at the top of the coastal stream, but Old Grey have the potential to cause an upset. Old Grey have seven points and a win will see them draw level with Amavarara. Meanwhile, Komani United are seeking to maintain their lead in the inland stream. A win over FC Ravens will give them breathing space as the league approaches its halfway mark. If Ravens pick up the win, it will ensure they draw level with Komani.
Other matches in the coastal stream include GQ Cavaliers traveling to Sundays River Valley Academy, and Buffalo City Relatives facing bottom team Makana Rhini United. GQ Cavaliers have won three of their four matches and are second on the coastal stream with nine points. They dismantled Camdeboo Football Academy 4-0 last week. Buffalo City Relatives will seek to bounce back from a 2-1 loss to Amavarara last week.
In the inland stream, unbeaten Sinenkani, with 10 points, will play Pondo City in a local derby at the Mphuthumi Mafumbatha Stadium. Amaxesibe will look to secure their first win when they travel to the Willowvale Stadium to face Matta Milan. Bush Bucks will host University of Fort Hare at the Mthatha Stadium, with debutants Fort Hare seeking their first win after four outings without a victory.
The double-header at Dumpy Adams Stadium promises to be an exciting event, with both Amavarara and Komani United looking to maintain their leads in their respective streams. The matches will be closely contested, with several teams seeking to close the gap at the top of the league. The home advantage could play a significant role in determining the outcome of the matches.
Matatiele City and United will aim to secure their first points of the season when they meet at the Thandanani Stadium in Matatiele. In other matches, Gqeberha United will play Prides AFC at the De Wet Stadium, while Camdeboo will face Seven Stars at the Botanic Gardens Sport Ground on Sunday. Seven Stars finally picked up their first win of the league last week, defeating Prides 4-3.
