Morocco's tourism industry has experienced significant growth, with 15.7 million tourists visiting the country by the end of September 2026. This represents a 5% increase compared to the same period in 2025, with over 717,000 additional arrivals. The surge in tourist arrivals is a positive indicator for the country's economy and tourism sector.

The growth in tourist arrivals was particularly notable in September, with over 1.5 million tourists visiting Morocco, an 8% increase compared to September 2025. According to the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, this growth confirms the solid trajectory of the Moroccan tourism sector and its ability to maintain momentum beyond peak periods.

The Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, emphasized that the tourism sector's potential is considerable, and the goal of attracting 26 million tourists by 2030 is within reach. Ammor highlighted the need to continue this growth trajectory, generating more value, jobs, and opportunities across the country's territories.

Recent data from the Office des Changes reveals that travel receipts reached 97.926 billion dirhams (MMDH) in the first eight months of 2026, a 9.7% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, travel expenditures rose 6.6% to 23.305 MMDH, resulting in a positive balance of 74.621 MMDH, a 10.8% increase compared to August 2025.

The growth in tourism is also reflected in the country's air connectivity. The Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) has been working to enhance the country's attractiveness through strategic partnerships, including a recent agreement with Ryanair to boost air connectivity.

The tourism sector's growth is expected to have a positive impact on the country's economy, creating new job opportunities and driving economic growth. The sector's development is also crucial for the country's social and solidarity economy, with the government emphasizing the need to generate more value and opportunities for local communities.

As the tourism sector continues to grow, stakeholders are focusing on sustainable development and responsible tourism practices. The government, tourism operators, and local communities are working together to ensure that the sector's growth benefits the country's economy and society as a whole.
