Under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Morocco has consistently advocated for a two-state solution.
The minister expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian tragedy faced by the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip. He called for respect for the ceasefire agreement and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid. Morocco reiterates its urgent appeal to ensure sufficient supplies and assistance reach those in need without restrictions.
Bourita emphasized the importance of supporting the Palestinian Authority, particularly in financial, technical, and humanitarian domains. He praised the role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in providing essential services. Morocco is committed to accompanying the Palestinian Authority's structural reform process.
The minister announced Morocco's decision to join an international stabilization force in the Gaza Strip, contributing to peace and security. This commitment includes training Palestinian police forces, deploying high-ranking military officers, and setting up a military field hospital. Morocco also offers to spearhead a program to combat extremism.
Bourita raised concerns about developments in the West Bank, including the adoption of legislation that affects the legal status of Palestinian territories and legitimizes their annexation for colonial expansion. He warned that these practices, along with systematic aggression by settlers against Palestinian civilians, undermine the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The minister concluded by highlighting King Mohammed VI's efforts, as President of the Al-Quds Committee, to preserve the historical, cultural, and spiritual identity of Jerusalem. Morocco remains deeply concerned about unilateral Israeli measures and violations targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque, which fuel extremism and compromise peace prospects.
