Morocco's exports have shown strong growth through September 2026, driven by the aeronautics and automotive industries. According to the Office des Changes, aeronautics exports rose 22.3% year-on-year to over MAD 26.21 billion (approximately $2.82 billion) during the first nine months of 2026. This growth is attributed to increased international sales in aircraft assembly and Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems (EWIS).
The aeronautics sector's growth was led by a 27.5% increase in assembly segment exports and a 12% rise in EWIS sales. These figures, published in the Office des Changes' monthly foreign trade indicators bulletin, highlight the growing contribution of advanced manufacturing industries to Morocco's export activity. The sector's performance is a significant indicator of the country's industrial growth.
The automotive industry also maintained its upward trajectory, with exports reaching MAD 132.11 billion (approximately $14.21 billion) by the end of September, marking a 14.3% increase compared with the same period in 2025. Several branches contributed to the sector's growth, including a 16.1% increase in wiring exports and a 15.1% rise in automotive construction.
The exterior segment of the automotive industry posted the strongest growth, with exports climbing 39.3%. This growth in the automotive sector demonstrates the industry's resilience and its role as a key driver of Morocco's economy. The sector's performance is likely to have a positive impact on the country's overall economic growth.
Morocco's agricultural and agri-food exports also registered positive results during the first nine months of the year, generating more than MAD 72.43 billion (approximately $7.79 billion) in exports, representing a 10.7% increase year-on-year. Phosphates and derivatives recorded more modest growth, with exports reaching MAD 74.65 billion (approximately $8.03 billion), up 0.2% compared with the same period last year.
Not all sectors followed the upward trend, however. Textile and leather exports fell 5% to MAD 32.15 billion (approximately $3.46 billion) by the end of September 2026. The electronics and electrical industries also recorded a slight contraction, with exports declining 0.4% to MAD 10.3 billion (approximately $1.11 billion).
Despite these sectoral setbacks, Morocco's overall export performance remained positive, with total exports reaching MAD 384.05 billion (approximately $41.30 billion) during the first nine months of 2026, marking a 10.7% increase compared with the corresponding period in 2025. The results underline the contribution of the country's industrial sectors to export growth, with aeronautics and automotive manufacturing emerging as two of the strongest-performing branches.
