Morocco has emphasized the success of its partnership with Interpol, resulting in the arrest of 855 wanted individuals and the processing of more than 52,900 information requests between 2015 and 2025. This information was presented during a meeting of the African Union's Peace and Security Council with the Secretary General of Interpol. The partnership, which began in 1957, has enabled Morocco to contribute to the exchange of criminal intelligence and coordinate cross-border operations through Interpol's National Central Bureau in Rabat.

The Moroccan delegation highlighted that through Interpol's National Central Bureau, the country's General Directorate of National Security actively contributes to international cooperation. Between 2015 and 2025, the bureau processed over 52,900 information requests. International cooperation facilitated the arrest abroad of 388 individuals wanted by Moroccan judicial authorities. Additionally, Moroccan authorities apprehended 467 foreign nationals wanted by judicial authorities in their respective countries.

Morocco's cooperation with Interpol extends beyond information sharing and arrests. The country has also contributed to the organization's specialized mechanisms, particularly in combating cybercrime. Mohamed Dkhissi was elected as Interpol's Vice President for Africa in November 2024, further solidifying Morocco's involvement in the organization. The country has also hosted significant Interpol events, including the 93rd General Assembly in Marrakech from November 24 to 27, 2025.

The Interpol General Assembly in Marrakech brought together over 800 delegates from 179 countries, including 82 police chiefs. The gathering resulted in the adoption of Interpol's Strategic Framework for 2026-2030, outlining the organization's priorities for international police cooperation. This framework aims to address global security challenges, including transnational organized crime and terrorism.

The Moroccan delegation warned that transnational organized crime and its connections to terrorism pose significant threats to stability across several African regions. They stressed that no country can confront these threats alone and called for a collective African response based on intelligence sharing, stronger national capabilities, and closer operational coordination between security agencies.

Morocco reiterated its willingness to share its experience and expertise with African partners through the African Union, Interpol, and other international mechanisms. Effective cooperation, the delegation emphasized, requires mutual trust, rapid and secure exchange of information, and coordinated law enforcement responses. Strengthening African and international police cooperation is essential to countering transnational threats and promoting peace, security, and stability.

The results of Morocco's cooperation with Interpol demonstrate the country's commitment to enhancing security across Africa and internationally. With a long history of partnership with Interpol, Morocco continues to play an active role in addressing global security challenges. The country's efforts aim to protect populations and promote stability, highlighting the importance of continued cooperation and collaboration in the face of evolving threats.
