The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity held a ceremony at the Tangier Med port to honor Walid Al Jabari, a sailor with the shipping company Africa Morocco Link (AML), for his bravery during the incident that occurred on the night of September 1st as part of the "Marhaba 2026" operation.

The incident involved a car carrying a Moroccan family abroad falling into the waters of the Green Island port, resulting in two deaths and two survivors, thanks to Al Jabari's intervention. During the ceremony, Al Jabari was presented with a certificate of appreciation and an award for his bravery and selfless actions.

The Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity emphasized that this recognition highlights Al Jabari's behavior, which aligns with the objectives of the "Marhaba" operation, aimed at supporting Moroccans living abroad and providing assistance and support to those in need.

The foundation's project manager, Abdullah Omar Musa, stated that Al Jabari's intervention was a spontaneous humanitarian act that demonstrated responsibility and awareness, without expecting any recognition or reward. Musa added that such actions embody the values of solidarity, cooperation, and social cohesion that the foundation seeks to promote in Moroccan society.

Al Jabari expressed his gratitude to the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity for this initiative, stating that his actions were driven by his values and training as a sailor, which prioritize the safety of human life. The ceremony was attended by several officials, including the Moroccan Consul General in Green Island, Abdullah Biyed, and representatives from various government ministries and port authorities.

The recognition of Al Jabari's bravery aims to promote the values of solidarity and social responsibility among young people and future generations, as part of the foundation's efforts to foster a culture of mutual support and cooperation in Moroccan society.
