Moroccan Senate President Mohamed Ould Errachid is attending the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Arusha, Tanzania. On the sidelines of the event, he held bilateral talks with parliamentary leaders from various countries. These discussions focused on enhancing parliamentary cooperation, exchanging experiences, and developing bilateral relations. The talks were attended by Moroccan Ambassador to Tanzania Zakaria Koomiri.

Ould Errachid met with Speaker of the National Assembly of Tanzania, Moses Azanzi Zongo. They discussed ways to develop relations between the two legislative bodies and enhance consultation and coordination. The two leaders emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting rapprochement between Morocco and Tanzania. They also highlighted the need to continue developing cooperation mechanisms, including increased exchange of visits, experiences, and expertise.

During his meeting with Zongo, Ould Errachid recalled King Mohammed VI's commitment to strengthening cooperation between African countries. The King has emphasized the importance of south-south cooperation and building balanced and fruitful partnerships. Ould Errachid also highlighted several initiatives, including the King's proposal to enable Sahel countries to access the Atlantic Ocean and the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project.

Ould Errachid also met with Speaker of the Senate of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbaeva. They discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and explore opportunities for cooperation in various fields, including parliamentary, economic, trade, and investment areas. Ould Errachid emphasized the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in promoting economic cooperation and encouraged the organization of meetings between parliamentarians, economic actors, and the private sector.

Narbaeva expressed Uzbekistan's interest in deepening relations with Morocco in various fields. She noted that the current level of cooperation does not reflect the full potential of the two countries, particularly in trade, economic, social, and cultural areas. Narbaeva highlighted the importance of the cooperation memorandum between the two legislative bodies in establishing a basis for further coordination and joint action.

Ould Errachid also held talks with Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova. They praised the level of relations between Morocco and Azerbaijan, particularly in parliamentary cooperation. Gafarova emphasized the strength of relations between the two countries, which go beyond formal agreements and are based on strong ties between their institutions, cultures, and shared values.

The 153rd IPU General Assembly, which runs until October 9, brings together representatives from parliaments worldwide. The event focuses on "Promoting Good Governance and Empowering Societies through Inclusion, Trust, and Equal Opportunities for All." The Moroccan delegation, led by Ould Errachid, includes several members of the Senate and representatives from various political parties and trade unions.
