Members of the Moroccan parliament have expressed their high appreciation for the contents of a recent statement by the Royal Palace, issued after a UN Security Council meeting on the Western Sahara issue. The statement was made on October 30, and the parliamentarians have welcomed the efforts of Morocco's diplomacy to bring a final end to this manufactured conflict. They highlighted that the statement marks a significant strategic shift from managing the conflict to changing its fundamental determinants and rules.

During a joint plenary session held on Monday, which focused on the latest developments in the national issue, parliamentarians noted that the statement's contents reflect a decisive strategic shift. They emphasized that the non-renewal of the MINURSO mandate after 35 years is a historic milestone. The parliamentarians also praised Morocco's commitment to a ceasefire and its determination to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and citizens' security.

The parliamentarians agreed on the centrality of the King's vision in achieving a radical transformation in the Western Sahara file. They highlighted that Morocco's diplomacy, based on clarity of vision, steadfast positions, and accumulated gains under the umbrella of national unity, has enabled the expansion of international recognition of Moroccan Sahara and support for the autonomy initiative under Moroccan sovereignty.

The parliamentarians also noted that the voting of 11 countries in favor of the recent UN Security Council resolution reflects growing international support for Morocco's position. They pointed out that this momentum crowns the path paved by UN Resolution 2797, adopted on October 31, 2025, which coincides with the proclamation of the King's Accession to the Throne and makes the autonomy initiative the exclusive basis for a settlement.

The parliamentarians stressed the need to consolidate the diplomatic and developmental gains achieved by Morocco by continuing to strengthen national unity and promote regional and social justice. They also called on Algeria to assume its full legal and humanitarian responsibilities towards the detainees in Tindouf camps, recalling Morocco's "open hand" policy aimed at ending the suffering of these detainees and reuniting them with their homeland.

The parliamentarians highlighted that the strength of Morocco's national position is reinforced on the ground by the comprehensive development momentum in the southern regions, thanks to the development model launched by the King in 2015. They cited major structuring projects, such as the Tiznit-Dakhla highway, the Atlantic Dakhla port, and the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project.

The parliamentarians expressed their appreciation and pride for the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, the National Security, the Auxiliary Forces, and the Civil Protection, praising their dedication to defending the country's integrity and stability under the leadership of King Mohammed VI.
